The University of Western Sydney invites applications from suitably qualified persons for a lectureship in Biological Sciences. The role will involve teaching biology and animal physiology to undergraduates and supervising honours and post graduate students in their areas of expertise. This is also an opportunity to join a dynamic academic team to develop new learning and teaching programmes in biological sciences and allied discipline areas. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an active, externally-funded research program and contribute to research within the School of Natural Sciences where cross-disciplinary research both in science and science education is strongly supported. The successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to the intellectual life of the university and broader community, with a particular emphasis on supporting and developing collaborative links and research funding.
The School has well equipped scientific research facilities that include animal, food and nutrition, chemistry, microbiology and molecular biology laboratories. It also has world class instrumentation, including confocal optical microscopy, FESEM, solid-state and liquid NMR, X-ray diffraction and reflectometry, SMIS, Raman and infrared spectrometers (both equipped with microscopes) and facilities for simultaneous DSC/TGA/FTIR analysis.
