University College Cork (UCC) was founded as Queen’s College Cork in 1845. UCC, which has a current enrolment of over 18,600 students, provides over 120 degree and professional programmes given through some 60 Disciplines and offers a research-led curriculum that attracts the highest calibre of students. UCC consistently delivers a globally significant contribution in research and in teaching and learning, which has secured the University a place in the top 3% of Universities worldwide in the Times Higher Education University Ranking (2009).
In the past seven years and as part of its strategic plan, the College of Medicine and Health has undergone significant expansion involving a growth from three to seven Schools, an increase in student numbers to 3,000 and the establishment of an increased number of professional and postgraduate programmes offered. UCC is now seeking to recruit a high-calibre leader to drive its major research and educational programmes within the College of Medicine and Health. The appointee will have significant autonomy in relation to resource utilization within the College.
