Kidnap accused cabbie to face court

Posted July 30, 2010 07:46:00

A Sydney taxi driver will face court next month accused of kidnapping a passenger who had vomited on his cab.

After being picked up at 2:00am on Sunday at King Street Wharf, the passenger vomited out the window of the taxi.

The 33-year-old driver was angry and told him he would have to pay a clean-up fee on top of the fare.

This sparked an argument and police say the driver then took the passenger to his Macquarie Field home, where his wife and elderly parents got in the car, hitting the passenger and demanding cash.

Inspector Peter Hinds says they opened his wallet and took $130 from it.

The 20-year-old passenger was released at Ingleburn.

He called police who arrested the driver yesterday afternoon, charging him with detaining a person for advantage.
