Two Queensland scientists have been chosen as finalists in the country's premier science awards, the Australian Museum's Eureka Prize.
There were hundreds of entries in the national awards for scientific research and innovation.
Two of the six People's Choice finalists are from Brisbane.
Geneticist Dr Ryan Taft has made discoveries about DNA and turning genes on and off.
He is also a finalist in the early career research category.
Signals processor Dr Clinton Fookes is making computers recognise and report on people and actions in public places to improve security.
Online voting in the People's Choice award category closes on August 15 and winners will be announced two days later.
