Background
RMIT University is a university for tomorrow-global in outlook and with teaching, learning, research and innovation programs continually updated so that our students, staff and graduates are ready to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
At the same time, we have not forgotten our past. Since 1887 our inner-city campus has grown up with the City of Melbourne, from the 1880s boom through periods of war, depression and renewed prosperity during the latter half of the twentieth century. Since the 1990s, the institution has acquired campuses in Bundoora and Brunswick in the city's northern suburbs, and in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in Vietnam, through which we take an active role in developing communities.
From the beginning, staff and students have always been attracted to RMIT because of its strengths in teaching and research, industry linkages, reputation for creativity and innovation, and the talent and vision of its academic leaders.
