Introduction
CQUniversity Australia is an international, national and regional university and has approximately 20,000 students from over 100 countries across the globe. CQUniversity has campuses in Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Gladstone, Mackay and Emerald plus delivery sites on the Sunshine Coast. The University operates international campuses in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Melbourne and Sydney. CQUniversity graduates have one of the highest employment rates in the country.
Background
1967 - Founded as the Queensland Institute of Technology (Capricornia).
1971 - Became the Capricornia Institute of Advanced Education.
1974 - First distance education course was introduced.
1978 - Established an additional campus in Gladstone & 1987 - Addition of Mackay Campus.
1988 - Addition of Bundaberg Campus & 1989 - Addition of Emerald Campus.
1990 - Became known as University College of Central Queensland.
1992 - Achieved University status and was known as the University of Central Queensland.
1994 - Changed name to Central Queensland University; first overseas operation (Singapore); followed by similar operations in Dubai, Fiji and Hong Kong; opened 'international' campus (Sydney) in joint venture with Campus Group Holdings.
1997 - Opened Melbourne International Campus.
1998 - Opened Brisbane and Fiji International Campuses.
2001 - Opened Gold Coast International Campus.
2005 - Teaching commenced in Shanghai.
2008 –Rebranding of the University as CQUniversity Australia
Campuses:
CQUniversity Brisbane is located on a purpose-built area near the city centre. It is well served by the city's extensive public transit network.
CQUniversity Bundaberg is located on a peaceful tree-studded 23-hectare site on Bundaberg's southern outskirts, adjacent to the airport, only six kilometres from the city centre.
CQUniversity Emerald is located in the grounds of the Emerald Agricultural College situated on the Capricorn Highway.
CQUniversity Gladstone is located beside the Gladstone yacht harbor.
CQUniversity Gold Coast is located near the CBD and directly across from Southport.
CQUniversity Mackay is located on Mackay's southern outskirts and is about six kilometres from the city centre.
CQUniversity Melbourne is located close in the heart of the city centre, close to the Victorian Parliament house.
CQUniversity Noosa is centrally located at Noosaville.
CQUniversity Rockhampton is located at the northern entrance to this vibrant regional hub.
CQUniversity Sydney is located in the centre of the harbor city close to all transport and facilities
Courses:
CQUniversity offers more than 100 undergraduate and postgraduate programs through two Faculties:
Faculty of Arts, Business, Informatics and Education and the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Health.
The University hosts the Institute for Sustainable Regional Development and four designated research centres:
Centre for Environmental Management;
Centre for Railway Engineering;
Centre for Social Science Research and;
Primary Industries Research Centre
CQUniversity is also a partner in four Co-operative Research Centres (CRCs) for:
Coastal Zone, Estuary and Waterway Management, Cast Metals Manufacturing, Railway Engineering and Technologies & Integrated Engineering Asset Management
