A number of The University of Queensland Senior staff
attended the event, to support their hard working lecturer.
Professor Debbie Terry, Associate Professor of Teaching and Education, opened
the award ceremony. “It’s a really significant honor for Professor Walker, the
UQ Business school and The University of Queensland,” Professor Terry said, “It’s a very competitive
competition and we are very proud Professor Walker was named Lecturer of the Year. Especially after 60,000
votes were cast and only 20 nominations separated the top three.”
This is the second year of the competition, and it’s fast
becoming a highly regarded accolade in the higher academic sector.
“Lecturer of the Year is the only University award which is genuinely driven by
staff and students,” Associate Professor Terry, of Education and Teaching said
today.
Professor Walker will soon be enjoying her five-night trip to Fiji, which is
part of the academic prize.
“Thank you very much UniJobs, ‘Professor Walker said. “The
Lecturer of the Year award highlights teaching, which is particularly important
in these times.
“It’s great to know staff and students voted for me on the Lecturer of the Year
web site.”
Nominations for the 2009 Lecturer of the Year website will
